Sponsor Adopt Foster Volunteer
Sponsoring a dog is a rewarding way to assist if you are unable to foster or adopt. There are different levels of sponsorship available.
Sponsor a dog!
If you choose this option, you select any dog(s) from our Seniors Available page. Next, you choose Purple Ribbon, Blue Ribbon or Red Ribbon Sponsorship.
Purple Ribbon: Assume full costs for the dog of your choice. That includes routine vet bills, medicine, grooming, equipment, training, food and supplements. Veterinary and medicinal bills out of the ordinary will be funded through the GF.
Blue Ribbon: Assume partial costs for the dog of your choice. You choose what you want to provide.
Red Ribbon: Assume a specific cost for the dog of your choice. For example, you pay for one grooming session; one vet visit; one bag of dog food, etc.
Sponsor the fund!
You can sponsor the general fund and allow the board of directors to choose the dog that will be sponsored. Select one of the yearly benefactor levels below. Donations can be one-time or scheduled. MasterCard and Visa are accepted.
Adoption of a senior keeshond is reserved for those special folks who know the reward they will receive from the love of a senior! If you are one of those special few, you will need to jump through a few hoops to prove it to us!! We’re picky about just who gets to enjoy the love of one of these special oldsters.
Adoption Questionnaire
Adoption Contract
You’ll need to complete our adoption questionnaire and submit it to KLU for processing. A KLU adoption counselor will contact you then and discuss your home opportunity to see how it best meets the unique needs of a senior keeshond. He or she will also arrange a home visit to meet your entire household. Once approved, final decision of which dog you adopt is made (possibly from another rescue group) and transport is arranged after the adoption contract and donation are received.

Fostering a senior keeshond is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. The benefits you receive far outweigh anything the dog gets! And he/she gets a lot!! Fostering means you are willing to give the dog up for adoption if the perfect forever home appears. However, the foster home always has first choice in adopting the dog themselves. And you have a very strong voice in the adoption process and will be asked to speak with the prospective adopters about the dog.
Foster Application
Foster Contract
Permanent Foster Contract
Permanent fostering is available for those special needs dogs who will most likely never be adopted. It is the ideal situation for human senior citizens who can be assured that if their personal needs change, the dog will be easily moved to another foster home.
If fostering is something you’d like to consider (remember, there is no obligation), please complete the fostering questionnaire. You will be contacted and your application will be processed. A home visit will be scheduled and you will be required to sign a fostering contract.
At this time there are no “do’s and don’ts” for foster families. Each application will be evaluated on its own merit by the board of directors.
Volunteers come in all sizes and shapes, all sexes and ages, all income levels and family situations. A volunteer can do as much or as little as they are able.
